Uhm, what? What? A major league team in two countries? The SAME team in two different countries?! Splitting half of the seasons home games between two countries. As a die hard Tampa Bay Rays fan, this has been just embarrassing and down right disgusting to watch unfold. What does it take to get an owner of a team fired? Raiders fans reading this looking for the same answer. This whole idea isn’t going to happen. The mayor of St. Petersburg has already shut it down. Not completely though.
If big bad Stuart wants to split the season between two countries, then he is going to have to pay for his own stadium in St. Petersburg. There will be no city funding from the city to help build a new stadium. I want to remind you that while the Rays were locked into an agreement for a stadium in Ybor, Stewie went and purchased the Tampa Bay Rowdies and the land that the stadium is on. This just so happens to be conveniently located on the water in St. Petersburg. Just 5 blocks away from the Trop.
This cheap fuck didn’t want to put up more than a quarter of the price for a new stadium in Tampa and expected the city and everyone else to pay for it. Then as they are trying to figure out funding this asshole purchased the Rowdies for “millions”. How many millions? No idea. I know that its not anywhere near the millions they were asking for to build a new stadium. Now the rays are locked into playing all home games at the Trop until 2027. They want to start the move in 2024. I think he forgot that he has to get permission before they could even do that. Anddddddd shut down immediately by Kriseman.
Did he purchase the Rowdies to just kick them out and build a new baseball stadium there? Will that be the next spring training home? Will Stuart be the one who pays for the $150 million MLS franchise fee and then turn around and sell the team for way more than he purchased it? Use that money to build a new stadium here? In Canada? Who fucking knows!
He has been running the Rays since 2005 and he just now purchased a home in St. Petersburg. That’s 14 years later. Take your stale ass back to NY you joke of an owner. While you’re at it, you can take your pocket holder Matt Silverman with you.
What fan is going to want to support a team for 30 games of the season and then just watch them ship off to another country for the rest of the year and just watch on TV. For most of you I guess this whole thing doesn’t matter seeing you don’t go to the games anyway. I haven’t even touched on the players side of things. You expect these players and families to just pick up their life and move to a different country every year?
Stuart had the audacity to say “this will be great for both cities.” How?! He really thinks that the fine residents of Montreal CA will travel to St. Petersburg FL and boost the economy as well as the attendance. Excuse me, what? You can’t get people to sit in an hour of traffic to come over a bridge and you think people of Montreal are going to flood the gates at the Trop? What a fucking lunatic.
I don’t even know why I am so angry because this bullshit isn’t even going to happen. Im more upset that I have to sit here, time and time again, to defend this baseball team and their decisions. Thats what we do as fans, right? I will no longer try to defend this fool. How do people put money in that guys pocket after being shit on.
